2003
CHRISTMAS PARADE!The 2003 Pineville Christmas Parade is set to roll up beautiful Main Street in Downtown Pineville, Friday, December 12th, at 7:00pm.
This year's Grand Marshal is U.S. Congressman Rodney Alexander. In his first term in Washington, the Quitman native has made quite a name for himself voting with both fellow Democrats and Republicans, when he feels it best serves our district.
The Pineville Christmas Parade is one of the largest in Central Louisiana, and one of the few night parades...and parade marchers will enjoy marching under the new KCS Underpass, which was a trail of dirt at this time last year. Get there early and enjoy the beauty of the Pineville Christmas Parade.
Congratulations
Pineville Mayor Clarence Fields and Alexandria Mayor Ned Randolph joined forces to proclaim Tuesday, August 12th “International Paper’s Pineville Mill Day” in honor of the mill’s 35th Anniversary in Pineville. The proclamation was presented at a luncheon honoring 33-employees who have been with IP from the start of the Pineville Mill.
International Paper has been a valued part of the Central Louisiana, and has shown itself to be a good corporate citizen, dedicated to establishing community partnerships and respecting the environment and natural resources. The Pineville Mill employs approximately 285 people, but its outreach and purchasing impact more than 11,000. The plant uses virgin southern pine, and two-thirds of its fiber supply is purchased from private, non-industrial landowners in central Louisiana. The combined wages, taxes, purchases and charitable contributions of the mill now amount to $90 million a year.

The
City of Pineville received Tree City USA status for the second year in a row
by The National Arbor Day Foundation. Pineville is one of just 23 cities in
Louisiana to achieve this designation. Tree City USA, sponsored by The
National Arbor Day Foundation in Cooperation with the USDA Forest Service
and the National Association of State Foresters, provides direction,
technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban
and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more
than 93 million Americans call home.
In order to qualify for Tree City USA, a city or community must meet four
standards, including forming a Tree Board. The Pineville City Council
approved the Tree Board and its members more than two years ago. Since then,
the Tree Board has landscaped the boulevard leading to Huey P. Long
Hospital, landscaped Kelso Park, sponsored an educational field trip for
fifth graders to Red Dirt, and sponsored and participated in several Arbor
Day activities.
The other Tree City USA standards include implementing a tree care ordinance, supporting a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita, and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
