The Pineville Fire Department has implemented a new telephone reassurance program. The "Are You Okay" Telephone Reassurance Program is a free service made possible though a responsive grant awarded by the Rapides Foundation.
This program is designed for older adults, disabled persons, shut-ins and anyone in our community who lives alone and needs to be checked on daily, but has no one to do this. The computer automatically calls a client at home at the same time each day, at a time specified by the client, seven days a week to make sure that same person is OK. The message might be, "Good morning. Are you OK?" In the event that the client does not answer the telephone, the computer will call back twice more in a short span of time. If there is still no answer, the computer will alert the Fire Department and it in turn will dispatch someone to investigate.
Interested persons, either for themselves or someone they know, should call 449-5660 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and leave a name and telephone number. Someone will contact that person to get the information required for enrollment.
The city of Pineville is very happy to offer this service to our seniors, the fastest growing segment of our population.
