The Criminal Investigation Bureau is responsible for the investigation of crimes committed within the City of Pineville. CIB conducts follow-up investigations of misdemeanor and felony crimes referred to them by the Patrol Bureau or directly reported by citizens.
The primary objective is to identify and arrest offenders involved in criminal activity, recover stolen property, Incident reports are reviewed and assigned to a primary Investigator. Major crimes may be assigned secondary Investigators when needed. Each Investigator is experienced and receives specialized training in investigative techniques relating to specific crimes. They are subject to be assigned to various types of criminal cases such as:
CIB Investigators are tasked with the responsibility of conducting Crime Scene Investigation, which includes photographing, sketching, evidence collection and preservation. Misdemeanor cases are prosecuted in the Pineville City Court. Felony case files are prepared and submitted to the Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office for prosecution. The investigators continue to work with the prosecutor's office though the entire trial proceedings. CIB has an on-call Investigator available 24/7 to respond to all major crime scenes.
