USAR La. Task Force 6

Special OpsUnderwater Recovery Team (Dive Team)

The Fire Department Dive Team consists of firefighters trained and certified as divers whose primary responsibility is the recovery of drowning victims from any of the local lakes or waterways. Department members who volunteer for this special duty furnish their own equipment and train on their own time, and thus provide this valuable service at little cost to the City. The Dive Team is activated at the request of any fire department or law enforcement agency in the immediate CENLA area

Hazardous Materials Response Team
The Hazardous Material Response Team is comprised of the two fire companies, one assigned to Station # 1 and one assigned to Station # 3. In addition to responding to all types of emergencies within their assigned districts, these personnel are prepared to assist with incidents involving hazardous materials. Team members must attend technical training courses and practice their skills at every given opportunity to stay proficient in this highly specialized assignment.
