Paramedics must complete an extensive training program to enable them to perform specialized skills and procedures. These skills include advanced airway management, including intubation, intravenous therapy, pharmacology and drug administration, cardiac monitoring and defibrillation.
The City of Pineville Fire Department utilizes 2 Medical Response Trucks, staffed with at least 1 paramedic, which provides ALS treatment prior to transportation to local hospitals by one of the local ambulance services.

Provide Basic Life Support (BLS). It is the EMT's responsibility to interpret signs and symptoms of injury and disease, and determine the appropriate course of treatment. EMT's are trained to provide Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), administer oxygen, control bleeding, perform spinal immobilization, splint fractures, and rescue patients from entrapment or inaccessible surroundings

City of Pineville currently provides two Community Centers with another one opening soon. These centers provide an excellent place for people to hold functions such as family reunions, weddings, receptions, birthdays, meetings, etc. The City also has a pavillion area with restroom facilities. The contact number for booking these facilities is (318) 449-5681.
The Fire Suppression Division of our Fire Department is composed of 48 firefighters who are assigned to shift work at one of the city's 4 fire stations. At full strength, each of the 3 shifts (A, B, or C) is comprised of 1 Assistant Chief, 6 Captains, 6 Chauffeur / Drivers and 3 Firefighters. The Captains report to the Assistant Chief, who directs the day-to-day activities of the shift and serves as department head in the absence of the Fire Chief.
The shifts work on a 48-96 rotation, meaning the crews will work 48 hours then be off for 96 hours. The shifts operate/run out of 4 stations, the equipment used can be read about in the station and equipment section of the website.
Underwater Recovery Team (Dive Team)
The Fire Department Dive Team consists of firefighters trained and certified as divers whose primary responsibility is the recovery of drowning victims from any of the local lakes or waterways.
Department members who volunteer for this special duty furnish their own equipment and train on their own time, and thus provide this valuable service at little cost to the City.
The Dive Team is activated at the request of any fire department or law enforcement agency in the immediate CENLA area.
Hazardous Materials Response Team
The Hazardous Material Response Team is comprised of firefighters on duty as well as SORT team members off duty. These members are trained to a minimum of Hazmat Awareness level certification.
