The Fire Suppression Division of our Fire Department is composed of 48 firefighters who are assigned to shift work at one of the city's 4 fire stations. At full strength, each of the 3 shifts (A, B, or C) is comprised of 1 Assistant Chief, 6 Captains, 6 Chauffeur / Drivers and 3 Firefighters. The Captains report to the Assistant Chief, who directs the day-to-day activities of the shift and serves as department head in the absence of the Fire Chief.
The shifts work on a 48-96 rotation, meaning the crews will work 48 hours then be off for 96 hours. The shifts operate/run out of 4 stations, the equipment used can be read about in the station and equipment section of the website.
