The Fire Department Dive Team consists of firefighters trained and certified as divers whose primary responsibility is the recovery of drowning victims from any of the local lakes or waterways.
Department members who volunteer for this special duty furnish their own equipment and train on their own time, and thus provide this valuable service at little cost to the City.
The Dive Team is activated at the request of any fire department or law enforcement agency in the immediate CENLA area.
Hazardous Materials Response Team
The Hazardous Material Response Team is comprised of firefighters on duty as well as SORT team members off duty. These members are trained to a minimum of Hazmat Awareness level certification. Team members must attend technical training courses and practice their skills at every given opportunity to stay proficient in this highly specialized assignment.
